How to use the iXBRL Viewer

Step 1

  • Enter your Name and Email Address in the Arkk iXBRL Viewer on your right and then click the Enter the Viewer button.

  • The Viewer uses Microsoft’s Silverlight technology which is similar to Adobe’s Flash. This means you never upload your document to us, but instead the viewer works in your browser ensuring your file stays confidential and secure.

    • Step 2

  • If you don’t have Silverlight on your computer, you will be prompted to download it via the Microsoft website. This is a quick process similar to downloading Flash.

  • If you already have Silverlight on your computer, you will be taken directly to the Viewer page where you can add the document you wish to review.

    • Step 3

  • Once you’re in the viewer, add the document you wish to review by selecting ‘Choose iXBRL Viewer file’. Select your document from your computer and then when your file is ready, click on‘View iXBRL’.

  • The Viewer shows your iXBRL tags (concept), context and other iXBRL information in green text. It will also display all hidden tags within your document and the context definitions.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is the Viewer only for Arkk Solutions customers? No. The Viewer works with any iXBRL-embedded HTML document regardless of which provider produced it.

    How do I print the results of the Viewer or the displayed tags? Right click your mouse in the viewer and select Print.

    Why is there a hidden data shown in the Viewer? iXBRL has provision for data that is not visible. The hidden data section of the Viewer allows you to view this information.

    Why would I need to use the Viewer? If you currently outsource your iXBRL tagging, some providers will only provide you with an HTML or iXBRL document to submit to HMRC. The iXBRL Viewer allows you to see the tags embedded in your HTML / iXBRL document allowing you to easily review the tags.

    Why is the Viewer free? What’s the Catch? No catch. Our iXBRL Adapter software currently comes with a free iXBRL viewer. This is a feature our customers find very useful and no further development has been required to open it up to others who may also find it useful.
